A-Z of animals
We are working on adding lots of great animal pages to our site. All the animals we add will be in various themes such as "pets", "farm animals" etc.. but also listed here alphabetically. We hope this will make it easier for you to find the animal you want.
Ants are amazing creatures. Did you know that the ant is one of the strongest creatures in relation to its size? It can carry 50 times its own body weight! We have lots of interesting facts, colourings and puzzles in our great ant minibeast section. We hope you enjoy it.
The axolotl is a type of salamander that is found only in Lake Xochimilco in Mexico City. They are carnivorous and can regenerate body parts. They make a great unique fresh water pet as they are very friendly.
Baboons are ground dwelling and are found in open savannah, open woodland and the hills across Africa. They spend most of their time on the ground but sleep in high places such as trees and cliffs. They are known for being rowdy, fierce and socially intelligent. We have lots of colouring sheets, puzzles and word searches relating to the baboon.

Butterflies are beautiful creatures coming in all shapes, sizes and colours. We have lots of great pages to explore in our butterfly section. Why not study the butterfly life cycle? You could colour one of our many butterly colouring pages or complete one of our many puzzle sheets.
Did you know that there are two types of camel? There are the one humped or "dromedary" camels which are found in Africa and the Middle East and the two humped or "bactrian" camels found in Northwest China and Mongolia. A caterpillar is a young butterfly or moth that has hatched out of an egg. They are really big eaters with huge appetites. A caterpillar can eat 27,000 times its body weight in its life cycle! We have lots more fun caterpillar facts, colourings and puzzles in our caterpillar theme.

Despite its name a centipede doesn't have 100 legs, they usually only have 15 to 30 pairs of legs. We have lots more fun facts about centipedes, colourings, puzzles and worksheets in our centipede minibeast section.
The Cheetah is the fastest land animal and it is estimated they can reach speeds of 128km/h (80mph). They range through most of Sub-Saharan Africa and a very easily recognised by their small rounded head, spots and long thin legs. Crabs are decapods (meaning ten legs) from the crustacean family. They can live in the oceans, fresh water or land and are mostly omnivores. Earwigs are long flat insects with six legs and at the end of their abdomen they have a set of forceps that look like pincers. They use these for defense. Elephants are the largest living land mammal. There are three species of elephant, two of which live in Africa, the African savannah elephant and the African forest elephant. An elephants trunk is an extension of its nose and upper lip and it uses its trunk to grab food and put water into its mouth. A gazelle is a small antelope which lives in very dry environments such as the deserts, grasslands and savannahs of Africa. They have adapted to live in areas that are almost completely waterless.
