Hanukkah
Hanukkah is also known as The Festival of Lights and is a Jewish festival that is celebrated over eight days. There are a number of traditions associated with Hanukkah such as the exchanging of gifts each night of the 8 day celebration and the lighting of the menorah.
The menorah is a special candelabrum with 9 candles. The centre candle called the shamash and the first candle are lit on the first day and then each day an additional candle is lit. Other traditions include children playing with a dreidel and eating special foods such as sufganiyot (fried jelly doughnuts) and latkes (fried potato pancakes).
